Helping Her Discover Her Dreams

" The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams."

~ Elanor Roosevelt

Today we are working to end the need of single mothers and widows to sell their children into labor situations in Ghana instead of sending them to school. In the Ghanaian culture this scenario is acceptable. Children are easily seen as a commodity, something to be sold.

As easy as it may be for us to get angry with the mother or grandmother who sells the child we must understand that she is doing what she knows. What is normal and acceptable to her. It is our desire to create paradigm shifts in the communities where we work. One mother. One grandmother. One pastor. One family at a time. We want to help her, empower her, educate her and employ her so that she can keep her children and feel confident in her ability to care for them.

This process isn’t easy. At times it’s really hard, but we believe that by empowering women we will begin to see change in the communities where we work to keep families together and fight to keep slavery out.

The part of this process that I love so much is when she realizes, she is loved unconditionally by the giver of dreams and nestled deep inside her there is a dream that she will see come to reality. I love when she can see a bigger picture for her children and she realizes that through Him all things are possible.

Please pray with us for the single mothers and widows who we pour so much into. Please pray that they will continue to press into what God has for them and their children. Please pray for God's strategies and wisdom for us as we move forward into this next season of ministering to them.

We are currently believing God for someone to help us run our single mother’s program, 7 Continents, who could relocate to the CORM Children’s Village in Ghana and work with the women and help develop our 7 Continents product line. If you or someone you know are interested in learning more about this position or more about 7 Continents and Impact One please email me at stacy@cityofrefugeoutreach.com.

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you, not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11
